Cavite City, Philippines. Nov. 1, 2010 - For many cultures Nov. 1st is a day of celebration for loved ones who have passed. Araw ng mga Patay or the "Day of the Dead" is an official holiday in the Philippines where most families spend the entire day at the cemetery. Caretakers of the grounds begin preparation weeks before cleaning mausoleums and walk-ways, repainting tombs and clearing out squatters.

Tagaytay, Philippines; Oct. 31, 2010 - A few days have gone by and the jet lag has started to fade. Yesterday my Aunt Lucy and her son Gerard drove us from their home in Santa Rosa, Laguna to Cavite City, the place where my parents were raised and where I was born. The drive was long and uncomfortable but we did make a few interesting stops along the way.

Man riding a pedal tricycle delivers bottles of soda products to small shops around the area. Old bottles are collected and recycled. The recycling process included washing and disinfecting the bottles to be refilled with more product and sent back to the stores.

October 29, 630am Korea - I have lost a day. Somewhere between Korea an Los Angeles I missplaced Thursday. It is now Friday morning. My stay here is short but here are some of the sites at this beautifully clean and elegant airport.

October 29, 630 a.m. Korea - It is past midnight but the acivity at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX airport has yet to slow down. Tonight marks the first night of my journey to the Philippines with my parents and my boyfriend who has never left the country before now.
