Southwestern College Student Employment Services held its semi-annual Job Fair wrapping up a week-long SWC Career Expo.
“The objective of the job fair is to have employers come out to share job openings with the community,” said Student Employment Services Supervisor Nelson Riley.
This year’s fair attracted about 70 employers and more than 1,800 students and community members, Riley said.
Prospective employers included the military, law enforcement, city and county departments, banks, amusement parks, hotel agencies, media firms, sales and non-profit organizations. They offered jobs for employment, volunteering, internships, and service learning to people with or without prior job experience.
“We are looking for candidates who have customer service experience and while it is not required, sales experience is also a huge plus,” said Lauren Hawkinson of Wells Fargo Bank.
The next job fair will be held September 17.
